St Mary’s Crib
Services, Christmas Eve 2007
– Questions about Tickets
We’ve never had to have tickets before – why now?
The crib service has been getting more and more popular each year, so much
so that the church is getting overcrowded, which is neither safe nor
enjoyable. So this year we are holding two identical services, at 4.00 pm
and 6.00 pm on Christmas Eve, with admission by free ticket only.
Where can I get tickets?
Free tickets will be available from the Bakery Stores;
Prestbury Post Office; the Infant and Junior schools.
Please note that tickets are not available from the church itself.
Who exactly needs a ticket?
Anyone of whatever age who is going to occupy a seat – so in practice the
only people who will not need a ticket are likely to be babes in arms (please
note that, for space reasons, push chairs may have to be left outside church).
How much do tickets cost?
They are free – this is about managing the number of people, not
raising money.
How many tickets am I allowed?
As many as you want, within reason – it’s first come, first served. But
please only take tickets you are intending to use, not ‘just in case’. If you
take tickets and then find you can’t use them, please give them to someone who
can, or return them to any of the places which are giving them out.
Can I use my tickets at either service?
No: the tickets will clearly show the time of the service for which they
are valid. They cannot be used at the other service.
Does my ticket relate to a specific seat in church?
No, the seats are unreserved.
What happens if I turn up without a ticket?
If there are still tickets available, we’ll allocate them at the door -
first come, first served. Even if all the tickets have been allocated in
advance, we’d expect some ‘no shows’, so we’ll ask you to wait until we know
how many ticket-holders have not shown up and then allocate any spare seats -
again first come, first served.
What if I’ve got a ticket but forget to bring it with me?
Sorry, but we’ll have to treat you as if you didn’t have a ticket.
Do I need tickets for the Candlelit Nativity Service at St Nicolas’?
No, because on past experience we don’t expect St Nicolas’ to experience
the same overcrowding as St Mary’s.
Where do I go for further information?
This website (http://www.prestbury.net) has
information about our Christmas and
regular services, as well as many other
aspects of parish life. For general enquiries, ring the team
office on 01242 244373 between 9.00 am and 12.00 noon, Monday to Friday. `
