Jonah the Groaner went to sea in a ship bound from
Nineveh.
A storm arose and tossed the boat and terrified all aboard.
The sea got rougher, the men got tougher and tossed poor Jonah out.
All flustered, he floundered and splattered and spluttered until he was
swallowed in one,
in one,
in one
Until he was swallowed in one
By a huge fish a-passing who found him quite tasty
and gobbled him up for a snack.
Three days he languished and thought of his trouble
Until he had one good idea And decided to pray to his God,
his God,
his God
He decided to pray to his God.
"Oh Lord God Almighty, I've failed you so badly,
you hurled me into this great fish.
I'm asking you now please to save me from drowning and let me make good on
dry land."
Then, as if by magic, the fish tired of Jonah and spewed him up onto the
beach,
the beach,
the beach
And spewed him up onto the beach.
Then God said to Jonah "Now go to the city and give
them this message from me.
You've greatly displeased me and spurned me and shunned me and this is what
I plan to do.
Your city will perish and end for all time at the end of just forty days,
forty days,
forty days
At the end of just forty short days."
The king told his people to sit up and notice and
ask God to give them a chance
So they turned from their wrong deeds and gave up their violence and fasted
in earnest en masse.
And the Lord had compassion and halted His anger and claimed them again as
His own,
His own,
His own
And claimed them again as His own.
