All-night watch at the Altar of ReposeSt Nicolas'Maundy Thursday, 8 April 2004
We keep the tradition of watching and praying with Jesus through the night of his passion at both our churches in Prestbury. St Mary's was open until midnight. The vigil was kept all through the night at St Nicolas'. Young people from Synergy and adult helpers took it in turns to watch at the Altar of Repose for half an hour from midnight until dawn. To help keep everyone awake there was a programme of songs, prayers, games, competitions, dancing and face-painting, space to relax and read, as well as our own simple supper and breakfast.
