Friday 5 September
Our new drama group, CHADS (Churches Amateur Dramatic Society), will present a review at Prestbury Hall, Bouncers Lane at 7pm. Tickets are AVAILABLE NOW in all three churches at £5 which include cheese and wine. All proceeds will go to Let The Children Live!

United Sung Eucharist at 11am at St Mary’s. Please note that there will be NO 9.30am service at St Nicolas’ and NO 10.30am service at All Saints’ that day. If anyone needs a lift, please speak to the churchwardens.

SOUL SURVIVOR
Soul Survivor is a Christian festival focusing on worship and teaching. A group from PPY is going to Soul Survivor this year – with a particular focus on young leaders. Please pray that all who go will really grow in their relationship with God.

Wednesday, August 27.  Leaving All Saints' at 1pm and returning about 6.30pm, with tea at Westbury-on-Severn WI. If you wish to come, please contact Peter Warwick.  Cost £10 inclusive of tea and transport.

SUNDAY CLUB is having a summer break and will start up again on 14 September.  Happy holidays to everyone from all leaders and helpers.

FRIENDS EXHIBITION PHOTOS
Cards and prints of Brian Woodfruffe's photos have now arrived and can be collected from Peter Warwick after the Parish Mass on either August 3 or 10. 

‘SMILE’ CONCERT?
You are invited to a concert by students from The Royal Welsh College of Music on Saturday 16 August at 7.00pm in All Saints’ church. The SMILE Appeal is for an onsite hydrotherapy unit at St Rose’s School, Stroud. Tickets £3 at the door or in advance from Pamela Crisp

BRIDGE DRIVE - Tuesday August 19th at 7pm
We are holding a follow-up Bridge Drive in St Mary’s. Tickets are £15 including supper and glass of wine. All very welcome. Please contact Jim Mackie for details and tickets.

TEA FOR LET THE CHILDREN LIVE!
Afternoon tea will be served on Wednesday, August 20 at 'Windrush', Swindon Lane in aid of 'Let the Children Live. 2pm – 5pm. Produce table.

CHURCH FETE - SATURDAY 13 SEPTEMBER 
Please start looking out for or making items that can be sold at the fete. These could include:
Toys, Books, Tapes, Videos, White Elephant, Bottles, Produce, Cakes, Bric-a-brac, Toiletries, and anything else you can think of!
Collection can be arranged if necessary. If anyone would like to donate a raffle prize, please let me know in advance. With many thanks for your co-operation. Marion Beagley

ST NICOLAS' HALL SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATION
On Saturday, 4th October, as part of the Harvest Weekend, we plan to celebrate 25 years of the Hall with a Tea Party. We intend to reminisce about the many activities and functions that have taken place, and would be grateful to hear memories and borrow photos, so please get thinking, hunt out the albums and let us have them by 31st August. BIBLE STUDY
Thank you for the fellowship and support of all who have attended the Bible Study group throughout the year. The group is taking a break during August and will re-convene on Tuesday 9 September at 7pm, with a look at the Book of Revelation. New members are always welcome.

TRIP TO HEREFORD
Our trip to Hereford takes place this Tuesday, 22 July. Please be ready to leave St Nicolas' at 9.30am sharp; the coach will leave for our return from Hereford at 4.30pm. We shall return to St Nicolas' where there is ample parking for your cars.  I am looking forward to a very interesting day out and thank you all for your enthusiasm.   Marion

WE WELCOME TO ST MARY’S this morning Bishop John Kato from Japan, who will be preaching at the 11am service. Bishop John is staying in the Diocese until the Lambeth Conference begins on 16 July.

SERVICE OF WELCOME FOR THE LAMBETH BISHOPS
A number of visiting bishops are staying in our Diocese before the Conference and this afternoon, Sunday 13 July, there is a Service of Welcome, Celebration and Prayer for them in the Cathedral at 3pm. Everyone is very welcome to attend the service, where the preacher will be the Bishop of Dornakal, southern India.

175 YEARS OF THE OXFORD MOVEMENT
In celebration and thanksgiving of the anniversary of the Oxford Movement, there will be an hour of silent prayer in St Mary’s from 12pm to 1pm on Monday 14 July, and in All Saints’ from 6.15pm to 7.15pm on the same day. Please come and join us – you don’t need to stay for the whole hour!

FAREWELL TO BRUCE GOODWIN, who has his last day with us today at the end of his four week placement. Our prayers and good wishes go with him into his second year of ordination training.

FR STEPHEN & VICKY GREGORY became grandparents again recently when their daughter Kate and her husband Mike had twin boys, William and Thomas. Although premature and still in hospital, the boys are doing well!

PARISH LUNCH - SUNDAY 20 JULY AT THE ROYAL OAK AT 1.00PM.
There are just a few places left for the next Parish Lunch. The menu will be roast pork for the main course, followed by a sweet to be chosen on the day. There will also be a vegetarian option. VISITING BISHOP
The Lambeth Conference takes place in Canterbury from 16 July to 4 August. TODAY Fr John Gann celebrates the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood, and will preside and preach at 9.30am at St Nicolas’. We send him our love and congratulations.   

WELCOME THE NEW DEACONS!
David Gardiner and Andy Hughes will be ordained Deacon in the Cathedral this morning. This afternoon there will be a tea party in Prestbury Vicarage garden at 3.30pm.  This will be an opportunity to meet David and his wife Sarah, and to celebrate with Andy and David.  All are very welcome!

PYAG YOUTH TEAM WORKER
On Thursday, PPY will be holding interviews for an additional worker with the PYAG project to work alongside Sharon Macauly. The PYAG project works with students from Pittville School who would benefit from a more practical educational set-up, and who otherwise could leave school with no further education, employment or training secured. The additional worker will be a great asset – helping to provide a range of activities and maintain a great level of personal support for the participants. Please pray for this important appointment – for God’s wisdom to make the right decisions. For further information please contact Andy Macauly

Despite the drizzle and strong winds of English mid-summer, around 400 visitors arrived to see 13 of Prestbury's gardens. Thanks to the hard-working gardeners and heroic tea ladies (with trainee young waiter), almost £2800 was raised for church funds.

NEXT SUNDAY Fr John Gann will celebrate the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood, and will preside and preach at 9.30am St Nicolas’. We send him our love and congratulations.

ORDINATION SUNDAY – NEXT WEEK
David Gardiner will be ordained Deacon to serve in the Team in the Cathedral next Sunday, 29June, at 10.15am. Hopefully you are aware that Andy Hughes will also be ordained Deacon at the same service.  Andy, a member of All Saints’, will be known to many people across the Team.  You are very welcome to attend the Ordination service to support them both.  If you would like transport, please speak to one of the Churchwardens.
On the afternoon of the Ordinations there will be a tea party in Prestbury Vicarage Garden at 3.30pm.  This will be an opportunity to meet David and his wife Sarah, and to celebrate with Andy and David following their ordination.  All are very welcome!

This month's Mothers' Union meeting takes place on Tuesday 24 at St Nicolas' at 7.30pm.

DRAMA GROUP - CHADS
This newly reformed group will have their next meeting on Friday 27 June at St Nicolas' at 7.30pm. BISHOP’S PILGRIMAGE
This week the Bishop of Gloucester is making a pilgrimage around the early Christian sites in the Diocese.  He will be accompanied by 12 pilgrims including Julia Hook from All Saints’.  Please keep the pilgrims in your prayers.  You might like to use this prayer which Bishop Michael has written:
Holy God, the companion of our pilgrimage and the goal towards which we move: through the events that shape our journey, through the people who walk at our side, through the places where we sense your presence, grant us moments of grace along the way, as you draw us to yourself, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRAYER DURING EXAM PERIOD
Please pray for those at school, college or university facing exams at the moment. Philippians 4: 6-7 is a great inspiration when praying for those under pressure.

YEAR 6 WELCOME TO ELEVATE

CONCERT 21 JUNE
On Saturday 21 June at 7.30p.m. in All Saints’, ‘Voices’ will give a concert of well known light classical and popular musical numbers.
‘Voices’ is a small vocal group, all of whom sing in All Saints’ Choir, accompanied by John McElroy on the piano. Proceeds will be in aid of All Saints’ organ and music fund and refreshments will be available. Please come and support this event.

PRAYER DURING EXAM PERIOD
Please pray for those at school, college or university facing exams at the moment. Philippians 4: 6-7 is a great inspiration when praying for those under pressure.

YEAR 6 WELCOME TO ELEVATE
Elevate will be open to young people currently in school Year 6 from Sunday 1 June. Elevate is a group which explores faith and life through a wide range of games, activities and discussion. We meet 5-7pm on Sunday evenings at St Nicolas' church. For more information: Andy Macauly

A CHRISTIAN, SCIENTIST, CARING FOR CREATION - a lecture by Sir Ghillean Prance on Saturday 7 June, 7.30pm, at The Main Lecture Theatre , Park Campus, University of Gloucestershire. Sir Ghillean was Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew for eleven years, and is currently Scientific Director of the Eden Project, and President of Christians in Science. Admission to the lecture, which will be followed by a time for questions, is free, but donations welcome to cover costs. There will be a bookstall.
This event has been organised by the Rev Andrew Dow, Area Dean of Cheltenham, to present a Christian perspective alongside the Cheltenham Science Festival, (4-8 June) to which Richard Dawkins is coming to speak about Darwin!

CHOIR SINGS IN HEREFORD
On June 7, the choir of All Saints' will be singing evensong in Hereford Cathedral (5.30pm). Why not spend some time in a beautiful city, tour the cathedral and support your own choir?

SUMMER FAIR
All Saints’ church and Scout Group Summer Fair will take place in church on Saturday 14 June from 11.45am to 2.00pm
